We are going to focus on whole plant-based foods where practical. The Plantz Matter smoothie recipes do use some processed ingredients. Some of the processed ingredients are powders, plant-based milk or coconut water. But for the most part, they use whole plant-based ingredients.
Duration: The duration of a smoothie diet can vary. Some might adopt it for a few days as a detox or cleanse. Others might follow it for weeks as a weight loss strategy.
Start with small, achievable goals. For example, I will add a smoothie to my breakfast on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Sorry for SMART goaling you! But if you say something like I will start adding smoothies to my diet. It is less likely to happen as it leaves too much wiggle room and not enough accountability.
Make sure to have a shopping list of ingredients and quantities you need. Buying frozen ingredients is an easy way to solve many issues around fresh produce. Frozen ingredients last, don't take up fridge space, and are cheaper and convenient.
Think about your blender. If you are going to be blending fibrous foods like raw beetroot or carrot, is your blender going to cut it? If you have a cheaper, less powerful blender, only add softer ingredients.
Otherwise, you might burn out the motor or end up with lumpy smoothies. Do your research, and take your time. A good blender is an investment. I have had my Ninja blender for years and I'm happy with its performance.
